Oh La La! Fascinated with Vintage Fascinators!

I am happy to say, I finally began listing some of the hats I picked up when I was in Ohio last month. I have more yet to enthrall you with, but I've been sick all week with a truly desperate illness, so I have done what I could reasonably do given my circumstances. I will post some photos below for you to enjoy. I also listed a vintage negligee that was given to me by a friend who thought I would like to sell it. I've been dragging my feet about putting it up for sale, because it was sheer, and how was I going to manage taking modest photo's of lingerie??? I ended up wearing it with a full white slip, which worked well. It doesn't show anymore than any sundress would show. So, I'm happy with the results.

I took some extra time with the photo's, since I had plenty of hours at my disposal laying about trying to recuperate. I hope it shows!

Last week I picked up a geek chic bow tie at a charitable resale shop, and now it graces my boutique.
Check out my hipster photo below. Its just a crying shame I don't have any thick rimmed glasses;)

There you have it. My latest photo's. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I can't wait to go back to the cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul) and bop around with Johnny again. Lets hope that Depeche Mode doesn't disappoint as us as predictably as Morrissey last year.

Stay classy,
Kary J

The personal musings of a vintage mind....

I think most people hate eating breakfast because it requires more moving about and scrounging around, and well...effort. I know that's how I was feeling today, on this my day off. Day off from what? you may very well ask. I'm not sure really. Most days I'm busy doing life and what-not, on my day off, I'm allowed to live in my most raw and primal state. Hair in a terrible tangle, make-up free, stomach out, yoga pants donned, with my iPad blaring some 90's sitcom whilst I guzzle an entire pot of coffee. Lovely image, isn't it? I did manage to get breakfast, I ate wheat toast with 'natural' Skippy peanut butter. Really it should be called peanut butter with extra oily-slim. I'm not sure how natural it could possibly be.
Have you ever noticed that when you Google an inexplicable physical symptom of some sort, 'depression' is inevitably one of the possible illnesses it could be? As soon as I see that result, I immediately lose interest. Depression? well, no emergency there. Humph, depression, how horribly boring. Just in case you were worried, I am most definitely not depressed.
Well, I am posting below some new listings of some adorable vintage dresses. I hope you enjoy! If you want to see the complete listing on Etsy, just click on the title above the picture.
Today I will be taking photographs later of me transformed into something reasonably presentable wearing some genuinely pretty vintage hats that I will be listing soon.

Stay classy,
Kary J.

In memorandum:

Last night I burned a CD for a friend of mine. Copies of the photographs of my very first model shoot. My model was MaKenzie. She was a dear little soul, and quit this life a few short months afterwards. I had the opportunity to get to know her quite well during the interim. Going through those pictures last night reminded me of just how unique she really was. I know her family is still grieving deeply over their loss. Little MaKenzie is never far off from my thoughts. It was a lesson hard learned, don't take young friends for granted. If you haven't heard from someone in a while and are unsure why, there might be a more serious reason. Reach out to them, you may just make a big difference during a volatile time.

1950's Model of Charm

Just a quick post of some recent pictures and listings @ High Hat Couture. A new model has graced us with her presence, Ms. Jessica. I styled her hair and scoped out new photo locations downtown. I think the results are fab!

I have many more treasures coming soon. I've been rather pressed for time as of late. I'm happy to be getting back on schedule. I am looking forward to showing you the delightful hats I've been collecting. Of course there are plenty of summer worthy dresses on the way too, so keep your eyes peeled :)

I recently suffered the loss of a very dear person, my grandfather. So just as a reminder, keep in touch with your family. For heavens sake, don't take them for granted. Its always a sad and tragic thing, to lose those who have braved the past.

 Stay classy,

Kary J.
