Mod Your Bod in 2013

Your cold hand
held for a moment among strangers
held for a moment among dripping trees
in the midnight hour

-Adrian Henri

We, the survivors :) have a lot to look forward in the spring of 2013. A new year often means a fresh start to many people, but in the upcoming fashion season we will be deeply immersed in the past. I've spent a lot of time posting fashion finds that give silent tribute to past staples from various era's. Today I would like to tip my hat to Prada. Their bold blocks of color and retro mod silhouettes manage to look unique, youthful, and obviously trendy. I would be terribly naive to hold back from posting some of the stunning men's line for Spring/Summer 2013 here. So for the first time since I started my brief entries I will post some runway photo's of the masculine variety. Here we go:

Dashing, no?

Sleek and Refined gent

Futuristic yet Dainty

Dolores O'riordan inspired

There you have them. My favorite picks for the week. I've been taking it easy the last few weeks, but I'm back in business now. I listed two more dresses on 'The Project' today. I had two sales so far this week. Which I'm very grateful for, considering the lazy mellow mood I've been in. I've done no promoting. If you would like to see the darling 1960's Peter Pan collar dress & and the 1950's style swing dress I've listed click below my friends:

Thank you for stopping by my lovelies! I hope you pop around next week for my next entry.
Stay classy,
Kary J.

Hurting for Herchcovitch, Panting for Patachou

"Blow, blow thou winter wind...Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky.."
-Shakespeare
Namaste!
Winter is upon us here in Fargo,ND. We are white and cold, and I'm not just talking about the people. bah-dum-cha! I'm settled in this morning upon my divan of illness. Not to fear! I found some bright spring fashion pictures to cheer me up, and some stunning Brazilian winter pieces to spice up my current look this season. I will share them with you, dear few.
First lets talk about Patachou, designer Tereza Santos is one smart cookie. Her clean simplistic designs are pretty and wearable. Her summer 2013 collection is sure to please. The inspiration for this line is Monet. The colors are gentle and elegant. You will have to stay tuned to see those pieces though, for I prefer at this time to focus on her Winter collection. Here we go:
Classic lines.

Beautiful texture.

Pretty colors.

Now, lets jump ahead to Alexandre Herchcovitch and his stunning New York show for Spring 2013. The colors and design in general are an elusive mix of late 1980's patterns and early the 1990's color pallet. Its a ready-to-wear line. Here are the pieces I pulled that I found especially pleasing or at least interesting to look at (a nice slap to the eye).

Love the skirt and booties here.

Very wearable combination here.

LOVE THIS!

Interesting.

Almost a bit juvenile or anime inspired.

Pretty.

Not sure if I would really wear this much yellow, but I like it.
It reminds me of Jim Carrey in "The Mask".

So there you have my fashion finds this week. The 'Project' is okay. Sales slowed after the 'Black Friday' week, but I suppose that's normal. My partner in crime, Jill, listed a couple new things yesterday, so if you have the time check them out at, www.HighHatCouture.com. Thank you for stopping by my corner of the web, and please come visit me again sometime;)
Have a great week my lovelies,
Kary J.

For the love of stripes

Good day to you drifters upon the web,
Its a new week, and a new day. I would like to start off by saying, Taylor Swift did not make black and white stripes a fashion do. They have been a staple of the fashion machine since the Parisian carmelite monks of times past (read The Devils Cloth to get the complete story). They are crisp, timeless, bold, and often very mod. Black and white stripes look dandy on accessories, like clutch purses, heels, or big dangling ear bobbles. I've rounded up some fine examples of the stripe. First up:
The Gown
Giorgio Armani Winter 2009

The Bathing Suit
Michael Kors Spring 2009

The Shoe
Christian Louboutin

The Bag
Rachel Roy

Now that I'm on a roll with this black and white theme, here are some bold fashion statements that are along the same vein of thought in no particular order.

Nature inspired hat with grey striped shirt

1960's Fashion with mutated pattern

1940's French fashion inspired make-up

Fabulous, no? I knew you would agree;) 'The Project' is going well. I've listed some new accessories and dresses. Please take a look if you have the time. Here is a picture from my recent Etsy shoot with some of the products featured that I'm selling.

Thank you for stopping by my lovelies. I hope your week is a rare one!
